- Ignite the Spirit! - A Local First DC community event
On Saturday, June 28th, Local First DC members will have an exciting opportunity to ignite the spirit in the lives of Washington DC youth. Local First DC is partnering with Mentors Inc to educate DC public high school students about business and entrepreneurship for a day.
By becoming an Entrepreneur Educator (EE) you will ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in a younger generation. You will educate youth on valuable business & entrepreneurial skills by giving them the experience of leadership, team building, planning, and execution.
Entrepreneurs Educators will work with a group of youth to:
- Create their own opportunity in life
- Design a business plan
- Take ideas from thoughts into action
- Build a team
- Overcome fears
By being a leader for this powerful and inspiring program, you will give the gift of freedom to youth and impact how they see themselves. Giving back to your the community is a rewarding and fulfilling way to provide an invaluable service to others.

- March 5 - 2008 Think Local First DC Kick Off
2008 “Think Local First” Campaign Kick-Off was organized to mark a beginning of a campaign to raise consumer awareness about the benefits of buying locally.
Local First DC launched the Think Local First campaign in 2007 and nearly 100 businesses are participating. Think Local First decals and posters are lining storefronts around the city and have generated media attention from the New York Times to NPR. Participation in the campaign is projected to double in 2008.
